1 tsp of fresh ground ginger root
1/4 cup sugar
3 cups of water
1/4 tsp of fresh lemon juice
1 cup carbonated water (optional)
Bring ground ginger and water to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and strain. Add sugar and lemon juice. Add carbonated water if desired.
